N. Eshika
N. Eshika is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Delhi, focusing on Feminist thought, women-led movements in South Asia, caste issues, identity formation, and cinematic discourse. Her M.Phil. dissertation, titled ‘Mirroring Minds through the Sexualized Body: Understanding the Representation of Female Sexuality and Emotions in New Millennium Hindi Cinema,’ explored the portrayal of female sexuality in cinema. She is now expanding on this work in her Ph.D. research, ‘Problematising Non-Normativism: Ethnographic Narratives of Cinema, Sexuality, and the Politics of Desire,’ which investigates the politics of female hypersexuality in cinematic narratives.
Eshika has contributed to research projects, including the ICSSR-sponsored study on caste and race, and has worked on field research related to caste discrimination, sustainable development, and disability rights. Her research experience spans across regions like Assam and Manipur, where she participated in campaigns and community programs. She has presented papers at various seminars and published chapters in academic books, including ‘Inquiry into Alternative Aesthetic Epistemology’ in Identity and Global Governance. Eshika’s work blends feminist theory, cinematic studies, and social activism, contributing to scholarly discussions on gender, identity, and culture.
