Prof. Sushma Yadava
Prof. Sushma Yadava is currently the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh, and a member of the Justice K.G. Balakrishnan Commission of Inquiry, New Delhi. She also serves as the Chairperson of the CARE Empowered Committee of the UGC, New Delhi, and as a member of the Appeals Committee of NAAC, Bangalore. Her illustrious career includes notable roles such as Member of the University Grants Commission (2017–23), Vice-Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonepat (2018–21), and Member of the Press Council of India (2017–2020).
Prof. Yadava has held prominent academic positions, including Pro Vice-Chancellor at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, and Professor of Public Policy & Governance at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi (2009–2020). She also served as Chair Professor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair at IIPA (2005–2013). A distinguished scholar, she was the Chairperson of the Governing Body, College of Vocational Studies, University of Delhi (2014–15), and Founder President of the Rashtriya Samaj Vigyan Parishad (2008–2018). Additionally, she was the President of the Indian Political Science Association (2014–2016) and Coordinator for various significant initiatives, including the India International Political Science Association and the Research Committee on Rethinking Political Development (2010–2013).
A gold medalist in her academic journey, Prof. Yadava has authored over 15 books and numerous research papers in prestigious national and international journals. Her teaching experience spans 25 years in Delhi University colleges before transitioning to IIPA. She has significantly contributed to planning, implementation, and evaluation of policies and academic activities as a Chancellor’s nominee, Visitor’s nominee, and member of various committees in Central and State universities across India.
Prof. Yadava has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Vidushi Samman (2024), Bhumi Putra Biju Patnaik International Woman Empowerment Award (2024), Savitribai Phule Rastriya Shiksha Samman (2023), and the Most Iconic Pro Vice-Chancellor Award (2023). Other honors include the Pride of the Nation Excellence Award (2019), Woman of the Year Award (2019), and Delhi Samman Ratan (2015).
Prof. Yadava has represented India internationally, participating in academic and administrative assignments in countries such as the USA, China, Germany, Spain, Peru, Chile, Nepal, and Bangladesh. With her exceptional leadership and scholarly contributions, Prof. Sushma Yadava has established herself as a distinguished figure in the fields of education, governance, and public policy.
